I like this. Disney's lies about history always make me cringe, and there was certainly more blood there than singing to wildlife.

It's not Disney lying... They just made a story that was kid friendly and would sell to make money. People do it all the time but for some reason Disney seems to get a lot of shit for it when they do it. Most movies are not fully accurate and change things around to make the movie better. How many non Disney versions of Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Snow White are there? They are all different. Especially the Snow White one. People take artistic liberties all the time with history/stories. Just teach your kids (if/when you have any) the real history of Pocahontas.

So, you say 'it's not disney lying' and proceed to explain the reason why disney lies. Chillax, i like disney, and i'm well aware they aren't the first or last that strive to keep children naive. But the bigger you are, the more attention you generate, and if some of it is negative, i dont think the disney company minds much, what with the stellar profits.
Think i'll pass on the 'having kids' bit though.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. It's not called lying. And it's not "striving to keep children naive". It's a movie based off of history. It's not a documentary, meaning it's not going to be an account of what actually happened. It's a MOVIE. Here's a wiki list of movies based on actual events: [link] . I bet none of them are full on accurate portrayals of history either. I was only 13 when the movie came out, but I remember before we even went to the theater explaining to my grandma all the things that were different. I knew it wasn't a movie on the real Pocahontas, but a Disney princess movie. And I'd say not having kids is probably a good idea.
